At Juraventure, at the Col de la Faucille, we offer hiking with our donkey. Ali is very kind, loves children and will brighten up your stay.
We will give you pieces of advice to choose your way: le Petit Mont Rond, le Grand Mont Rond, la Maréchaude...
There and just before going, you could help the team preparing the donkey: grooming, harnessing and feeding depending on the schedule.
Donkey renting :
- half a day, a day or a week. From 10 am to 7 pm, from the chalet Juraventure.

Ask for the programme! The children take part in a geological exploration within the Natural Park of the Haut-Jura.
Then, they are invited to a picnic at the Chalet de la Chenaillette and will discover a few stories about pastoral life and the make of the cheese Bleu de Gex Haut-Jura.
A storyteller will speak about the origins of the “Cro Magnon” cavern. An exploration of the Cro cavern will follow, with tales and painting with the children. The journey back along the ridge offers a view over the Lake Geneva area.
For half-day strolls and hiking, please bring with you:
- Suitable clothes, walking shoes and a hat.
- Some water.
- Sunscreen and sunglasses.
- A mobile phone.
The mountains of Monts-Jura offer unique landscapes and valleys you will be delighted to discover aboard a horse-drawn carriage.
Nicolas, a professional mountain guide and coach driver, will take you on his horse-drawn coach and will share with you his passion for this territory.
Just relax as you discover at the horses’ pace the landscapes of the Monts-Jura and Mont Blanc.
Stop a moment and savour the land’s products; visit the valley of la Valserine, a farm which produces milk for making Bleu de Gex Haut Jura AOP (PDO), a jewellery and precious stones workshop.
Take your time; slow down your pace as you discover a wonderful natural and historical site: listen, watch, smell and taste.
You will be amazed by the Monts-Jura and its carriages!

Strolls in the heart of the pastures and along the Valserine (this French wild river ranked first back in 0ctober 2014) from 2 hours and a half or for an entire day (upon booking, departure from the tourist office of Mijoux each Wednesday evening (except July-August) from 6:00 to 7:45 pm with drinks at the farm, “La Ferme Equitable des Monts-Jura” (between 4 and 6 persons) - Price: 17 euros/person - Booking: 06 20 80 48 07.
- Strolls: the Col de la Faucille (guided tour) from 15 to 20 minutes (upon booking, each Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm at thee Chalet Juraventure from April to June and from September to end of October).
Available in summer (July-August) between 9.00 am and noon - upon booking at the Chalet Juraventure. The strolls vary depending on the seasons and can be planned according to your needs.
It is possible to rent a carriage with a professional coach driver for your special events such as weddings, parties…
